“You bastard.”
“Rowan?”
“Did you really have such little faith in my abilities that you thought I wouldn’t find out?”
“If this is some sort of riddle we’re-“
“I know you’re working for them.”
“I told you, Ro.  My only employer is the Ministry of Magic.”
“Cut the crap, Ter.  I know better.  And to think I was passing off all your knowledge as mere coincidence.  I was even starting to believe you might be half psychic.”
“OK, first off- I don’t work for them.  And second- without my knowledge you never would have been able to save your girl.  So before you start cursing me you might consider thanking me.”
“Funny you should say that, considering my Alicia is the one who recognized you in the first place.  Isn’t that why you arranged this whole thing?  As a warning to her?”
“…”
“You did, you fucking bastard.  I was going to give you the benefit of the doubt, let you tell me that it wasn’t your idea, that you didn’t want to go along with their plans… But like you said, you don’t work for them, do you?  You’re the man behind the curtain.”
“What do you want me to say, Rowan.  You’re my best friend.  This isn’t exactly the kind of conversation that comes up at afternoon tea.”
“Correction, Terence.  I was your best friend.  Now we have a different word for this sort of thing.”  *click*
“Well, I guess that’s one Christmas card I don’t have to worry about sending.”
